The 3rd annual, Polar Plunge for Polio Plus planning was postponed due to the weather on February 9th but was reschduled for February 23, 2013 at the Cape Ann Motor Inn in Gloucester, Massachusetts.

This year, David Gardner, the president of the Rotary Club of Stoneham plunged into the ice cold waters of Cape Ann to help raise money to help Rotary International meet it's largest goal to date. In fact, with the support of fellow Rotarians and Dave's friends, he raised $1,296.00 personally and the District raised over $62,000.00. That was almost twice the amount raised last year. Many thanks to all of you.

After 20 years of hard work, Rotary and its partners are on the brink of eradicating this tenacious disease, but a strong push is needed now to root it out once and for all. It is a window of opportunity of historic proportions. Your pledge will directly support immunization campaigns in developing countries, where polio continues to infect and paralyze children, robbing them of their futures and compounding the hardships faced by their families.

As long as polio threatens even one child anywhere in the world, children  everywhere remain at risk. The stakes are that high.
