Superintendent Ljungberg began his new role in July. He replaces Superintendent John Macero, who retired after more than five years with the District.
“When Superintendent Macero announced his retirement, we could think of no better candidate than David Ljungberg. He has been part of the district for six years, quietly working in the background, as assistant superintendent,” School Committee Vice Chair Melanie Fiore said. “While not in the spotlight, David is responsible for a lot of the initiatives that have moved Stoneham forward, and we are excited for the future of Stoneham Public Schools under his leadership.”
Superintendent Ljungberg joined the District in 2016 as director of the curriculum and has served as assistant superintendent since 2017. 
Superintendent Ljungberg previously served as a principal, assistant principal, and director of curriculum within the Hopkinton Public School District, as well as a teacher in the Acton-Boxborough, Dover-Sherborn, Shrewsbury, and Leominster School Districts. He began his career in education in Seattle, Washington as a fourth-grade teacher in 2001. 
“All of my experiences have given me a true insight into the different and important hats that people wear throughout school districts. I am excited to draw upon this knowledge, as well as my more than 20 years of experience in the education field, to support District employees, students and the larger community as superintendent,” Superintendent Ljungberg said. “As I step into this new role, I also would like to thank Superintendent Macero for his mentorship and guidance over the past several years. He has taught me an incredible amount in preparation for this position.”
Superintendent Ljungberg holds a bachelor’s degree in cultural anthropology with a minor in elementary education from Clark University, a Master of Education with a focus in literacy from Providence College and a Master of Education with a focus in organizational management and school leadership from Endicott College. 

District Governor Alexander Falk will visit our club to introduce the goals and programs for the 2022-23 year and with Alexander at the helm, it’s going to be lively and fun year! 

Alexander Falk joined the Rotary Club of Marblehead in 2009, became Youth Exchange Officer the following year as he restarted the Rotary Youth Exchange program in Marblehead, and most recently served as President of the Marblehead Rotary Club in 2018-19.

He has been active in various roles in Rotary District 7930 and previously served as Membership Committee Co-Chair, Assistant Governor, Major Donor Chair, member of the Public Image Committee, member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, and District Youth Exchange Chair.

Alexander is a member of the Paul Harris Society.

He and his wife Nora are members of the Rotary Bequest Society Level 6, and the Arch Klumph Society – Trustee’s Circle. They live in Marblehead, MA, and are the proud parents of Calvin and Swanee Falk.

Alexander Falk founded Altova – a software company focused on developer tools – in 1992 in Vienna, Austria, and relocated to the US in 2001 to expand his business.
Alexander currently serves as President & CEO of the company. Altova employs close to 100 people and has offices in Vienna, Austria, and Beverly, MA.

Altova has over 5.5 million users worldwide and Altova software tools are used by 91% of the Fortune 500 companies.

Alexander holds a Diplom-Ingenieur (MSc equivalent) degree from Johannes-Kepler University in Linz, Austria, with a major in semiconductor physics.

Erin is the Director of Planning & Community Development for the Town of Stoneham. She will be sharing what is happening in Stoneham in terms of development.
